Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

HomeGeek ("HomeGeek", "we", "us", or "our") operates this application and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, access, use, store, disclose, retain, and delete information when you use our services, including when you authorize our application to access information from your Google Account through Google OAuth.

Google API Limited Use: HomeGeek's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide or improve the user-facing functionality of our application. We do not sell Google user data, use it for targeted advertising, or use Google user data to train generalized or non-personalized AI/ML models.

1. Information We Access

When you connect a Google Account, HomeGeek may access the categories of Google user data covered by the permissions you explicitly authorize on Google's OAuth consent screen. Depending on the features enabled for your account, this may include:

Important: HomeGeek requests only the Google OAuth scopes required for the application's implemented functionality. The exact permissions shown to you are controlled by the Google OAuth consent screen.

2. How We Use Google User Data

We use Google user data only for the functionality you authorize. Examples include connecting your Google account, reading or writing information required by an enabled feature, synchronizing information, and providing automation or workflow functionality requested by you.

We do not use Google user data for:

3. Data Sharing and Transfers

We do not sell or rent your personal information or Google user data.

We may disclose information only when necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or provide a feature you requested, or when required by law. Service providers that process data on our behalf may receive only the information necessary to provide the applicable service and are expected to protect it.

We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for advertising, data brokerage, or unrelated purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Where appropriate, data in transit is protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption. OAuth credentials and tokens are not intentionally exposed publicly.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your own Google Account credentials and for reviewing the permissions shown during OAuth authorization.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested functionality, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

When Google authorization is revoked or you disconnect your Google Account, HomeGeek will stop using the revoked authorization. Where applicable, stored Google user data and authorization credentials will be deleted or made inaccessible within a reasonable operational period, except where retention is required by law or legitimate security obligations.

You may request deletion of information associated with your use of HomeGeek by contacting us using the contact method listed below. Your request should identify the account or information to be deleted without sending passwords, OAuth client secrets, or other credentials.

6. Google Account Permissions

You can review or revoke HomeGeek's access to your Google Account through your Google Account's third-party connections/security settings. Revoking access may cause features that depend on Google APIs to stop working.

7. Children's Privacy

HomeGeek is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
